ELI - Deep Impact (Part 1)

On Friday, 15th August 2003, NZ TV2 scheduled the film > Deep Impact' for 8.30 pm. I was not intending to watch the film as I had seen it before. I was intending merely to record it on our new video recorder which I had bought a few days earlier to test the recording quality against our old VCR.

However, I was late back from work in Tuakau, arriving home with only five minutes to spare to tune it and work out how to record on it. I failed. I set the old VCR recording on manual at the start of the film and watched the beginning of it. I had remembered how the film starts with two teenagers at an astronomy class discovering > something' in the sky and sending the information to an astronomer who computes the asteroid' s course. He is staggered to find that the computer predicts an impact with the earth.

He tries to contact someone from his mountain top observatory but can' t get through so sets off in great haste by care, half concentrating. Unfortunately, a truck driver coming up the hill is also only half concentrating and the result is disaster, with the astronomer being killed in the accident.

But the asteroid is named in his honour.........and the lad from the astronomy class. This incident struck me as a clear case of script writers linking the real world of asteroid impacts to the film, the incident very much echoing the death of Eugene Schumaker who was co-discoverer of Schumaker-Levy 9 which collided with Jupiter so spectacularly between 16th and 22nd July 1994. Schumaker was killed in a road accident in the outback of the Northern Territories of Australia on 18th July 1997.

We watched a little more of the film which switches to apparent Washington intrigue with the Secretary......... resigning suddenly > to spend more time with his family' . Cut to investigative journalist Jenny Lerner smelling a rat and, hearing from a disgruntled White House staffer about phone calls regarding > Eli (or is it Elie, Ellie?) she becomes convinced the politician was having an affair and is determined to out him. Shortly afterwards, she is dramatically > captured' by the CIA and, in a rather unlikely scenario, taken to meet the President who bargains with her to avoid breaking the story > in the national interest' . She is bluffing that she knows all about > Eli' . So it is agreed she will ask the first question at the White House press conference. in a week' s time.

Shortly afterwards, while doing some research on her computer, she discovers an alternative > ELE' - the Extinction Level Event which is scientific jargon for the impact of a large asteroid with the earth. The last ELE was 65 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs. Apparently, statistically we are well overdue for another.

The President begins his press conference announcing the impending impact of the asteroid with the earth. The impact will occur some time on 16th August. (This was some ten months hence as it was now mid October in the film.) Jenny and I looked at each other. Surely it was a freak of programming. It seemed unlikely that the programmers at TV2 knew the significance of the date when the chose this film for broadcast on that day. It was now 9.03 pm on 15th August 2003!

The mission to destroy the asteroid will involve a spaceship Messiah - naturally to save mankind - with a nuclear propulsion system named Orion. Another meaningful coincidence? I run my own waste water treatment consultancy. It is called Orion Consulting. I had arrived back from my Orion work five minutes before > Deep Impact' started.

Even the name of the journalist has a curious coincidence - Jenny Lerner. Jenny is my wife' s name and we are learning a lot from meaningful coincidence.

Next there is the strike of Titan missiles, Titan being a name that figures very significantly in the Enigma Destiny Codes. It was one of the links to > Armageddon Day' being coded as 27th August. (See > The God of War' )

I was rather irritated that the film clashed with the 10.30 pm late news. I wanted to see coverage of the US east coast electricity blackout, apparently the worst in US history. I had to switch at a critical moment. Jenny Lerner is on the beach with her father, waiting for the impact. Suddenly I realised that the scenes of Americans fleeing a disaster in a film were being intercut with Americans in a real life mass evacuation from a blacked-out New York and a real life President giving another of his unconvincing speeches. The really worrying thing is that the fictional President comes across as a man of strength, openness, honour and integrity, in contrast to the real incumbent of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

After recording the news item, I cut back to the film just as Jenny and her father on the beach are swept away in the tidal wave. The scene cuts to the Twin Towers being engulfed by the tidal wave. I could not help drawing the connection to Nevil Shute's > On the Beach' and the link to the Twin Towers, given our Melbourne experience which will be described in the book > The Enigma of Nine One One' . The words from Ankhsoun' s vision across time came into my mind > ....and all man' s works were gone....' (See the book > Ankhsoun, Daughter of Ra' )

Just afterwards I picked up a CD to clear it from the table. Jenny exclaimed AYou are handling the Messiah...!" I had Handel' s > Messiah' in my hand!! It was 11.06 pm. Then she said ASorry. That was totally unintentional. I didn' t mean to make a pun on Handel.@

If I had got home earlier, I would have been able to set the second VCR to do the news items.....Maybe I wasn' t meant to. Maybe I had to intercut the two - real life and the fictional film - to show they are inextricably connected now in our time and space.

The film finished at 10.50 pm, only 70 minutes before 16th August! Surely this was a meaningful coincidence! Perhaps the asteroid is closer than anyone would ever imagine.
ELI - Deep Impact (Part 2)

The next morning dawned showery and changeable in Auckland. We had to decorate the lounge ready for our new three-piece suite, the old one having served us well for nearly seventeen years. The poor weather meant we were going to have to hire a covered trailer to take the old lounge suite over to a friend of Jenny' s daughter on the other side of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Jenny came to clean it and check down the cushions for > lost objects' . A Look at this!@ Jenny exclaimed. It was a slide of one of our papyrus paintings from 1986-8 when we were selling them. The painting was of Nefertiti, wife of Akhenaten and mother of Ankhsoun, whose story is told elsewhere on this site.

A little later she said quizzically "Look at this!" . I was staggered with what she showed me now. It was a small label 30mm x 10mm in size with the letters ELI very prominent. I realised it was a Dewey Decimal library classification sticker from the spine of a book we had bought at some point in time. But to find it that morning.....!

The confusion of ELE or ELI had been part of the opening plot in Deep Impact the night before. The Impact in the film is scheduled to occur on 16th August. It was now 10.03 am on 16th August.

Like the inter-cutting of the news item of President Bush with the fictional President on Deep Impact, was this now intercutting the ELE/ELI of the fictional film with ELI in the real world - and what is to come?

Incidentally, the full Dewey Decimal classification is 923.142.ELI. 923.142 is biographical - Heads of State/British House of Windsor - General - Kings and Queens of England. I have yet to find which of our books it came from. The House of Windsor figures prominently in the Enigma Codes of Destiny.

The Codes predicted Diana's death precisely. I do not believe this > ELI' sticker is chance. It is just another part of the coded warnings.

The next month's events merely served to confirm the validity of my theories. To understand what I mean, read 557 and The God of War and Appointment with Kali.

Incidentally, we last decorated this room on 5th June 1999. The coincidences then concerned the finding of a receipt from the Tate Gallery in London dated 5th June 1994. On that occasion, I had made a drawing in my notebook of John Martin's painting of The Last Judgement.  This painting is the second of a series of three paintings about the End of the World. Deep Impact would be a good alternative title of the first painting in this triptych which John Martin called The Great Day of His Wrath.
