To a greater or lesser extent the 'bible' is the guide book of Christian belief, depending on which religion you choose alters the parts to be considered relevant.
The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by about 40 authors, in three different languages, on three different continents, over approximately 1600 years.
We are often told ' he bible says ......' can this be taken as more than an anecdote?

OK. So what do we mean by ‘is God real?’
Our normal definition is very simple – can you prove something exists? Yes or no – end of story.
A unicorn and a black hole ….. We are happy to accept the existence of one and not the other and nobody could seriously argue to the contrary. Again we can prove a black hole exists, but in the absence of proof we accept the unicorn in fictitious, however widely depicted throughout history.
We have thousands of ways do determine the existence and nature of things, as small as an atom or light years away, how old a rock is, how old the earth is, we can measure and define everything (except dark matter see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_matter ) and can explain the mechanics, the hows, whens and whys of the universe.
To slip through the net of measurable science ‘a God’ would be, by definition, something that does not exist. Attributes such as kindness, love, forgiveness etc credited to ‘God’ also cannot be verified by science, and indeed physical actions of God good or bad have no scientific grounding.
Therefore no! scientifically quite simply God does not exsist.
We would need to look into an area not answerable to science.
We call this area which in science does not exist the ‘spiritual world’.
